Gorgoglione Concession: The Oil Beneath Italian Soil

Tempa Rossa Oil Center
The oil center, which became operational in 2020, spans an area of approximately 190,000 m² in the municipality of Corleto Perticara and is divided into 3 areas.
Discovered in 1989, Tempa Rossa is an oil field located in the heart of Basilicata, in Southern Italy. It is situated within the concession area known as Gorgoglione: an area of over 290 km² that encompasses the territory of 13 municipalities in Basilicata. So far, 6 wells have become operational; an additional 2 are under construction for research purposes and to ensure production stability.

La nostra energia per lo sviluppo del Sud

Our energy for the development of the South
Platform 1
In Platform 1, electrical and thermal energy is generated, sulfur is recovered, and from the control room, the operation of the plant is managed.
Platform 2
In Platform 2, the production process takes place: separation, stabilization, and storage of crude oil, as well as gas treatment, transforming it into methane gas and LPG.
Platform 3
In Platform 3, dedicated to water treatment, all the pipelines for transporting hydrocarbons from the wells and those for distributing the finished products converge.
Currently, the plant has a processing capacity of 50,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
But oil is not the only product obtained.
The Oil Center is equipped with a specific plant that, on one hand, allows the transformation of gas into methane and LPG, and on the other hand, recovers sulfur compounds present in the gas extracted from the wells and transforms them into sulfur, preventing their dispersion into the air.
Every day, Tempa Rossa also produces 240 tons of LPG, 230,000 cubic meters of methane gas, and 75 tons of sulfur.
These figures represent a valuable contribution to both the local economy and the strengthening of the country's energy resources.

The LPG Storage Center in Guardia Perticara
The LPG separated at the Oil Center is sent via pipeline to the LPG Center, where it is stored in appropriate underground tanks in compliance with national and sector regulations.
From the LPG Center, the product is loaded onto tankers through dedicated loading bays and sent to vehicle refueling stations.
